Carolina Fortuna studied Telecommunications at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. As a student she received a high performance scholarship from the university as well as a scholarship from Siemens PSE. She finished her diploma thesis in collaboration with the Department of Communication Systems at Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia. Currently, Carolina Fortuna is a junior researcher at the Department of Communication Systems and a Ph.D. student at Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School.

Her research interests include High Altitude Platform networks, optical transport networks, cross-layer optimization and data mining in telecommunication networks.
